The Esplanade is 19 hectares which runs along the Manawatu River and is a striking city gateway offering a wealth of recreation and leisure pursuits. The Esplanade offers native plants, beautiful gardens and rose gardens. It is home to the city's most extensive childrens playground, which includes a paddling pool. You may also like to take a ride on the miniature railway train. You can also check out the Esplanade's bird aviary and duck pond. You may like to try one of the Esplanade's walking tracks - either through native bush or along the river.
